We will begin our Choquequirao Trek at 5:30 am, departing from Cusco by private transportation to the town of Cachora. The journey will take approximately 4 hours and cover a distance of 140 kilometers. Along the way, we will have a brief stop for breakfast in the small town of Limatambo.
From Cachora, we will start hiking towards Chiquisca, descending down into the Apurimac Canyon. The trail is steep and rocky, but we will take our time and enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valley. After approximately 3 hours of hiking, we will reach our lunch spot in Santa Rosa, where we will refuel and rest for a bit.
After lunch, we will continue hiking for another 2 hours until we reach our campsite for the night in La Playa. The campsite is situated at an elevation of 2,350 meters and has basic facilities, including a dining tent, toilet, and washing area. We will have some free time to rest, explore the area, and enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by our cook.
We will wake up early on the second day of our Choquequirao Trek and have breakfast at 6:00 am. We will then begin hiking towards Marampata, a gradual ascent that will take approximately 3 hours. Along the way, we will pass through small villages and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
After reaching Marampata, we will continue hiking for another 2 hours until we reach our final destination for the day, Choquequirao. The trail to Choquequirao is steep and challenging, but the reward is worth it. Choquequirao is a remarkable archaeological site that was once an important religious and political center of the Inca Empire. We will explore the site, including the main plaza, temples, and residential areas, with our knowledgeable guide.
After a full day of hiking and exploring, we will set up camp near Choquequirao and enjoy a delicious dinner. We will have the option to take a night tour of the site with our guide, to witness the stunning view of the stars in the clear mountain sky.
We will start our third day of the Choquequirao Trek with an early breakfast at 6:00 am. We will then have some free time to explore the Choquequirao site before beginning our descent towards La Playa. The hike will take approximately 6 hours and cover a distance of 14 kilometers.
Along the way, we will pass through Marampata and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. We will stop for lunch at a scenic spot along the trail and have some time to rest and refuel.
After lunch, we will continue hiking towards La Playa, descending down into the Apurimac Canyon. We will arrive at our campsite in La Playa in the late afternoon, with plenty of time to rest and relax. The campsite has basic facilities, including a dining tent, toilet, and washing area. We will enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by our cook and get a good night’s sleep in preparation for our final day of hiking.
We will start our final day of the Choquequirao Trek with an early breakfast at 6:00 am. We will then begin hiking towards Capuliyoc, ascending up from the Apurimac Canyon. The hike will take approximately 3 hours and cover a distance of 7 kilometers.
From Capuliyoc, we will have stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including the snow-capped peaks of the Vilcabamba range. We will then begin our descent towards Cachora, a hike that will take approximately 2 hours.
Upon reaching Cachora, we will have lunch and say goodbye to our guide and support staff. We will then board our private transportation for the journey back to Cusco, which will take approximately 4 hours. We will arrive back in Cusco in the late afternoon, concluding our Choquequirao Trek adventure.
