Lares Trek to Machu Picchu 4 Days Itinerary

Day 1Cusco - Pumahuanca - Puyoc

We will depart from Cusco at 5:30 am and drive for approximately 2 hours to reach the starting point of the Lares Trek in the village of Pumahuanca.

After a hearty breakfast prepared by our cook, we will begin our hike towards Puyoc, a gradual ascent that will take approximately 5 hours, covering a distance of 10 kilometers. We will pass through traditional Andean communities and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Along the way, we will stop for lunch at a scenic spot along the trail and have some time to rest and refuel. After lunch, we will continue hiking towards Puyoc, our campsite for the first night, located at an altitude of 4,000 meters.

Upon arriving at our campsite, we will have time to rest and acclimatize to the altitude. Dinner will be served, prepared by our cook, and we will spend the night in our tents, ready for the next day’s adventure.

Day 2Puyoc - Yanacocha Lake - Cuncani Village

The trek will take us through stunning mountain landscapes and traditional Andean communities, offering an opportunity to experience local culture. We will arrive at Lares Hot Springs in the late morning and have some time to relax and soak in the natural hot springs.

After enjoying the hot springs, we will have lunch prepared by our cook and take private transportation to Ollantaytambo train station. We will then take a train to Aguas Calientes, the town located at the foot of Machu Picchu.

Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, we will check into our hotel and have some free time to explore the town or rest. We will have dinner at a local restaurant and prepare for our visit to Machu Picchu the next day.

Day 4Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

We will wake up early at 5:00 am and have breakfast at our hotel in Aguas Calientes. We will then take the bus to Machu Picchu, which will take approximately 30 minutes.
